Calmee is a smart device that filters important messages and helps users to free themselves from constant screen dependency. It adapts individually, learns the rhythm of use and enables targeted prioritisation of notifications.

Why Calmee?

Digital sensory overload makes concentration and productivity difficult. Calmee reduces this distraction by signalling messages visually, acoustically and haptically. Users can use the app to specify which notifications they want to receive and differentiate them by colour.

App design

With the calmee app, users can create individual reminders with a title, color, app link, volume, time and radius. Reminders are automatically activated in the defined area. Existing reminders can be managed under “Saved”. There are language and accessibility options in the profile area. A slider on the device triggers location sharing with saved contacts in an emergency.

Hardware mockup

The calmee model was designed in Fusion 360, 3D printed and reworked (sanding, painting of the emergency button).

For flexible use, calmee has a mounting option so that it can be fixed in different places (on the keys, as a necklace, without fixing).

Renderings of the model were made in Blender.

Technical Prototype

The vibration module enhances tactile feedback through signal amplification. The button serves for confirmation or snooze. The LED strip uses six colors for clear visual cues. The 5V buzzer provides loud, clear audio signals. A small battery allows mobile use. All functions are controlled and integrated via Arduino code on a microcontroller.
